Can a website really help my small business?
What kind of businesses do you work with?

We work with all sorts of clients – shops, hotels, pubs, hairdressers, cafes, charities, therapists, coaches, public figures, clubs, societies, campsites, artists – anyone who wants a high-quality website on a budget. Some clients want a simple, one-page information site, while others need a full-blown e-commerce shop, so our work is varied. Any type of business is welcome to get in touch with us and if we can help, we will. If we can’t help, we’ll be honest and tell you why.

How much does a website cost?

Our Simple Website package costs £350, payable when your site goes live. This covers the creation and design of your website as well as all the background settings, SEO settings, design tweaks etc.

Our hosting fee is just £20 per month, payable from when your site goes live. You can choose to pay this monthly or annually. This covers all of the site maintenance, security updates and your 12 free updates per year.

Finally, there’s the cost of your domain name, payable when your site goes live (if you own your domain already, no charge applies). It’s £25 for a .co.uk address or £30 for a .com address and this is an annual charge.

We offer various add-ons if required, most of which are either one-off fees or charged annually. Some businesses need or want them, some don’t. It’s really your call as to how simple or complex your website is but we’ll advise as to what we think will enhance user experience.

If you’re looking for a more bespoke website (for example if you need a very complicated e-commerce shop or a membership-based website) we will work out a price based on the features you need.
Why are you so cheap?

Well, for a start we’re not greedy people. We have an unusual on-the-road lifestyle that means overheads and outgoings are kept to a minimum. We welcome the passive income our web design business brings because it’ll cover us in case we can’t physically work – we’re both qualified Class 1 HGV drivers as well as web designers. Only one of us drives at a time though, so the other one is always available for our website clients (and our doggie!).
Why is your location on Google Maps if you live on the road?

We’re registered at a family address, where we’ve been registered for the past decade. Our life on the road doesn’t make us dodgy – it’s simply how we prefer to live (free from as many ties as possible!) and keeps life fresh and interesting. Plus we go where the HGV work is and pick up new website clients wherever we happen to be!

What do you need from me before you start work?

All we need is a rough idea of the kind of website you’re looking for and any specific features it needs – we’ll take it from there. To make things easy we have lots of examples for you to look at to get an idea of the kind of designs we offer, and to think about what might work best for you and your business.
How long will it take to build my site?

We can have a simple website up and running within a few days if needed. Obviously it depends on how extensive your website is as to how long it will take to complete and it very much depends on how quickly you respond to our emails and provide the relevant content.
Will you source the images for my website?

It depends on your industry and the aim of your website. We generally find it’s quicker for us to source images during the build process – once your demo’s ready we encourage you to provide images if you’d rather replace the ones we’ve used. We’ll point you in the direction of sites like Shutterstock and advise you on suitable size and format.
Will you write the content for my site?

It’s better that you write the content for your website because you know your business and customers best. We do a bit of editing if necessary but the content is essentially in your hands.

Do I need to have all my content prepared prior to contacting you?
Do I have to sign an agreement?
Can I see my website while you build it?
Will my website be mobile-friendly?

Your website will work across a variety of devices – mobiles, tablets, laptops, desktops. This means that whatever your device is on your website will re-jig itself accordingly for better user experience. Having a responsive website is vital these days, with over 50% of website traffic coming from mobiles.
Can you design a logo for my business?
Will you do the SEO for my website?

We do basic SEO settings for the main pages of your website as part of your package. This means it’ll be presented nicely with a title and description on browsers. We register your site with Google and Bing and do various things behind the scenes.

Please note we are not a professional SEO company so if SEO is truly vital to your business we recommend you seek the services of a SEO specialist.
Can you get me on Page 1 of Google?

No is the simple answer (no reputable web design company promises to do that). Google changes its algorithms frequently but doesn’t share its secrets and sometimes contradicts itself. So, in summary, we provide basic SEO for all websites and offer general SEO services (the higher you rank, the better it is for us!).
Do I own my website even though I didn’t build it?
I can't find you on social media ... why?

Yep, it’s true – you won’t find us on social media, mainly because our customers tend to find us via internet searches and personal recommendation. Mainly, though, it doesn’t suit our lifestyle; we’ve purposefully created a simple, minimalist, on-the-road life (which is how we keep prices low and service level high) and find that social media does nothing but bring brain clutter and raised stress levels. We avoid it as much as possible.
